A very clear, accessible and lovingly created guide for students of reflexology. A real learning aid that will be used again and again.

Thanks to a special lady
Pauline have just received my certificate!!!!! It has been a long road, but I want to thank you for standing by me. If I hadn't found your course, I would be a very different person today. So I want to thank you for being there, for your support, and belief in what you do. If ever you need telling that it is your 'sole purpose' in what you are doing just let me know and I will remind you (in no uncertain terms, as usual) Where we would all be without you?
lots of love and light,

Benefits for Dyslexic student
It's now over a year since I trained as a reflexologist with Solepurpose. The course not only provided me with the basic principles and practice of reflexology, but also acted as a gateway to a deeper, wider understanding of other complimentary therapies.
Further to this, and of great personal benefit, I found that reflexology helped my dyslexia. Prompted by this discovery, I have embarked on a course which will hopefully lead to my being qualified as a specialist dyslexia tutor (I am already a trained teacher). My future plan is to combine conventional teaching methods and complimentary therapies (principally reflexology), in order to develop an holistic approach to the many problems associated with dyslexia.
This path would not have revealed itself to me had I not made that first tentative phone call to Pauline!
I have always been prepared to consider Complimentary medicine when dealing with ill health. My knowledge of Reflexology was fairly scant for many years, but if asked, my response would have been that it all seemed a bit daft……..give me acupuncture any day!
The first time that I gave it any credence was actually during an acupuncture session. I had gone into needle shock: removing the needles did not help, nor did inserting the specific needles to resolve needle shock help, Rescue Remedy did not work. Finally, looking rather alarmed at my pale, shaking body, the therapist used reflexolgy. The effect was immediate – I was restored to normality. Following the experience, I took to massaging my own feet and reading the odd article about reflexology.
I had arranged to attend a local healing session in the Quaker Meeting House in Tunbridge Wells, when my daughter had a real problem with her eyes.
Following a lack of response to treatment over several weeks, the hospital had threatened steroids if there was no improvement by the following week. In desperation, I tried some reflexology on her. I was stunned by the experience. I was moved to heal (through prayer and contact) as I worked on a particular part of her foot. She felt the surge of healing as I worked on the area. The eye was cured, and the doctors at the Eye Hospital rather surprised. I, of course, said nothing!
I knew then that reflexology was the path I had to follow. I wasted no time, and found Pauline's number in a local alternative health directory. She was very helpful and arranged for me to come to a class as a ‘taster'. I liked what I saw, and enrolled on the course.
I have found the course extremely valuable. Pauline is always ready with anecdotes which convey her own experience of reflexology.
I have found the course very time consuming………..had I taken on board how much work that there would be, I think I would have delayed starting it…………but then again, maybe not!
Pauline has always been very understanding and reassuring, yet firm about the need to keep up with the demands of the course. She has always given me advice about practice clients, which has been very reassuring for me. I am very glad that I chose to train with Sole Purpose.

My change of direction
In September 2000 I was diagnosed as depressed and started seeing a counsellor on a weekly basis. Over the following 2 years I learnt what factors had caused the depression and am pleased to say I managed to come to terms with these issues.
By February 2002 the depression had cleared, leaving me highly stressed. Although I enjoyed my job as a Director's PA in London the commuting and the stress of the job was having a very detrimental effect on me. My counsellor had been advising me for months that I would be better off leaving my job. I decided to resign with the plan of looking for another job in London after having a 3-month break. However, when I spoke with my boss she suggested I take a month off work and then come back on shorter hours. I took her up on this offer. I finally decided to resign...
At the start of my year off I had no idea what I was going to do. I had been having regular reflexology treatments for just over a year when I left my job. One day during a treatment I asked the practitioner how long she had studied to become a reflexologist and was pleasantly surprised when she said a year (I had assumed the training period would be longer). At the end of the session she told me that a colleague Pauline ran a local school and gave me her telephone number.
When I spoke to Pauline on the telephone I became very excited about the prospect of training to be a reflexologist. However, when she told me how much the course cost I was disappointed because I did not think I could afford it. That was when I realised that I really wanted to do the course and to change what I did for a career. As soon as I started the course I knew I had made the right decision because what I was doing felt so right.
I received a lot of support when I needed it and becoming a reflexologist is a way of putting something back into the system. When I was a PA I always worked for medical companies but never felt that I was doing exactly what I should be. I realise now that I was trying to help people, and being a reflexologist I will be able to do this at a hands-on level rather than from afar.
What the course has done for me
Until I had the anatomy and physiology sessions I did not have a clear idea about where all the body's organs were and how the body worked. Now I know I am amazed at what a wonderful, powerful and resilient entity the body is.
Where do I see myself going with reflexology?
I am planning to give reflexology treatments 4 days a week, once my client base is up and running. I would like to treat most of my clients from home but am also planning to offer home visits. I may also find a room in a clinic somewhere if I start to attract clients who are more comfortable in a clinical setting. I do not have any preconceived ideas about the type of clients I will treat, ie. I will treat anyone who needs/wants to be treated.
The course was well-structured in terms of paperwork. I liked the fact that we got revision sheets for every topic we learnt about as I find this system works best for me. It also provides a great reference folder to go out into the 'big bad world' with. The content of the course was very good as it covered everything from giving treatments to how to set your business up. Now I am very confident about being a practitioner, and feel that I could not be any more prepared to meet the challenges ahead.
Whilst doing the course at Sole Purpose I did not consider myself to be a spiritual person. However, 2 years later my whole life has changed. I have a completely different outlook on life and realise now that the course did much more for me than learning how to be a reflexologist. It gives you the opportunity to look at your life and change what you don't like about it. A bit of a scary prospect at first, but definitely worth it.
